Christians
in the Visual Arts "Christians in the Visual
Arts exists to explore and nurture the relationship between the VISUAL
ARTS and the CHRISTIAN FAITH. Founded in 1977, CIVA first met to consider
the place of the Christian artist in the church and in the world-at-large.
The success of this initial gathering led CIVA to establish a vision for
activities which are now making an impact in a variety of ways. It is
our purpose to encourage Christians in the visual arts to develop their
particular callings to the highest professional level possible; to learn
how to deal with specific problems in the field without compromising our
faith and our standard of artistic endeavor; to provide opportunities
for sharing work and ideas; to foster intelligent understanding, a spirit
of trust, and a cooperative relationship between those in the arts, the
church, and society; and ultimately, to establish a Christian presence
within the secular art world."

Heterosexual
Monogamy: American
regionalism paintings focused on marriage. "Using ancient and modern
symbols, the exhibit stirs up emotions-the ones locked in the belly. In
the detailed-filled works, several stories are being told-like a strange
conversation." -Times Union

William
Blake Archive "A free site on the World Wide
Web since 1996, the Blake Archive was conceived as an international public
resource that would provide unified access to major works of visual and
literary art that are highly disparate, widely dispersed, and more and
more often severely restricted as a result of their value, rarity, and
extreme fragility. A growing number of contributors, currently eight American
and British institutions and a major private collector, have given the
Archive permission to include thousands of Blake's images and texts without
fees. At this writing the Archive contains fully searchable and scalable
electronic editions of 27 copies of 16 of Blake's 19 illuminated works
in the context of full, up-to-date bibliographic information about each
image, scrupulous "diplomatic" transcriptions of all texts, detailed descriptions
of all images, and extensive bibliographies."
