of American Visionaries. This unique website exhibits critical collections
of American Visionary Art. All artists, in American and throughout the world,
are interpreting a vision. The visionary artist seems to operate with a
higher calling. A vision, if you will, that is esthetic, spiritual, psychological,
and philosophical. America has a rich tradition of folk art. While the visionary
artist does not necessarily work in community, they typically hold to the
same compulsive energy and religious commitment. Visionary adj. 1. Of the nature of a fantasy or dream. 2. Given to impractical or fanciful ideas. 3. Not practicable; utopian. -n, pl. ies. 1. One who has visions. 2. One given to impractical or speculative ideas. While a visionary artist may hold to some pragmatism in their worldview, apologetics are never at the summit of their spiritual hierarchy. This process is an inward look at the condition of the soul as it embraces God-consciousness. Provided are links to some visionary exhibits you will want to process as your start your quest. |
